Description

Who can apply for a Schengen visa in Canada?

All non-Canadian citizens with an Iranian passport require a visa to enter the Schengen area. Applicants must possess either a valid visa, a permanent residency card (PR), or a valid Canadian multi-entry visa with at least three months’ validity after returning from the Schengen zone.
Only residents of Canada holding PR cards, student visas, or work permits can apply. Applicants on long-term tourist visas are accepted only if they can prove they are unable to apply for the visa in their home country.

Which Schengen country’s embassy should you apply for the Schengen visa in Canada?

Depending on the purpose of your trip and the length of your stay, specific rules determine which embassy or consulate of a Schengen country you should apply to.
If you’re visiting only one Schengen country, you must apply at the embassy of that country. If visiting multiple Schengen countries, you must apply at the embassy or consulate of the country where you plan to stay the longest.

Required Documents for Schengen Visa Application for Residents of Canada:

  1. A valid passport that is at least three (3) months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen area
  2. Original Canadian Permanent Residency Card (PR) or a valid Canadian multi-entry visa
  3. The residency permit or visa mentioned above must be valid for at least three months after you plan to leave the Schengen area
  4. Two passport-sized photos with a clear background, printed within the last three months, showing all facial features
  5. A letter explaining the purpose of the trip to Europe
  6. Proof of travel arrangements: flight and hotel reservations (round trip from Canada to Europe)
  7. Travel health insurance that covers emergencies with a minimum coverage of €30,000 or CAD 50,000

  10. Visa application fee payment

First Entry with a Schengen Visa:

According to Schengen visa regulations, the applicant must enter the Schengen area through the country that issued the visa. After that, they are free to travel within other Schengen countries. This rule does not apply to the exit point from the Schengen zone.
